PINPOINT TEST B: ENGINE OVERHEAT
STATES |
DETAILS/RESULTS/ACTIONS |
B1: COOLANT CHECK. |
WARNING: Do not, under any circumstances, remove the coolant expansion tank while the engine is running. Failure to follow these instructions may result in damage to the engine cooling system and personal injury. To avoid scalding with hot water or steam emitted from the cooling system, take extra care when removing the expansion tank from a hot cooling system. Wait until the engine has cooled down, then cover the expansion tank cap with a piece of thick cloth and turn it slowly until the pressure starts to release. When depressurizing the cooling system, move away from the expansion tank. After making sure that the pressure is completely relieved, turn and remove the expansion tank cap without removing the thick cloth from it. Failure to follow these instructions may result in injury. |
1 Check coolant level and condition. |
• Is the coolant correct? |
→ Yes |
Go to B2. |
→ No |
If the coolant is low or contaminated, flush the cooling system and add new coolant if necessary. If the coolant level is low, FILL the system and PERFORM a Component Check. Refer to the Element Checks section of this section for more information. |
B2: THERMOSTAT CHECK |
1 Check the elements according to this section. |
• Is the thermostat OK? |
→ Yes |
REFER to WDS. |
→ No |
