Water pump (1.8L/2.0L/1.6L Zetec-E) — removal and installation

Withdrawal

1. Disconnect a wire of weight from the accumulator.

2. Drain the coolant from the cooling system. For more information, refer to the chapter Draining/Filling Coolant and Bleeding Air from the Cooling System found in this section.

3. Loosen the water pump pulley bolts.



4. Remove the accessory drive belt. Refer to Section 303-05 for more information.

5. Remove the water pump pulley.



6. Disconnect the water pump from the water pump housing.



7. Rotate the water pump 180 degrees in the water pump housing and remove it. Discard the O-ring as it is no longer needed

Installation

1.

NOTE: Install a new water pump o-ring.

Reinstall the elements in reverse order.



2. Add working fluid to the cooling system. For more information, refer to the chapter Draining/Filling Coolant and Bleeding Air from the Cooling System found in this section.
