Withdrawal
1.
NOTE: Lay the cylinder head on a clean work bench.
Remove the cylinder head. For more information, refer to the Cylinder Head chapter available in this section.

NOTE: Insert wooden wedges into the combustion chamber recesses in the cylinder head so that the valves are held in place when removed.
Remove the valve.
- 1. Compress the valve spring.
- 2.Remove crackers.
3.
NOTE: Arrange all items in order.
Remove valve springs.
4. Remove the valve stem seal.
- 1.Insert the special tool.
- 2.Turn the special tool clockwise and pull it out.
5. Repeat the removal procedure for the remaining valves.
Installation
1.
NOTE: Refinish valves following the manufacturer's recommendations for grinding paste.
NOTE: Install in the order in which they were removed.
Regrind the valves, lapping paste is used for this purpose.
2. Thoroughly clean all elements to remove all traces of abrasive.
3. Lubricate the valve stem and push the valve into place.
4. Install the slinger cap onto the valve stem.
- Seal the grooves on the valve stem with a bushing to install the valve stem seal.
- Slide the slinger cap onto the valve stem and remove the bushing to install the slinger cap from the valve stem.
5.
NOTE: Check that the valve cotters are correctly installed.
Install the valve spring.
- Insert the valve spring and spring plate.
- 1. Compress the valve spring.
- 2.Install crackers.
6. Repeat the installation procedure for the remaining valves.
7. Install the cylinder head. For more information, refer to the Cylinder Head chapter available in this section.
