NOTE: Before installing new gaskets or oil seals, make sure the problem is clearly identified.
If an oil leak cannot be clearly identified by inspection, check with a UV tester.
Inspection using ultraviolet light
1. Clean the engine and transaxle with an appropriate cleaning fluid.
2. Fill test fluid through the oil filler according to the manufacturer's instructions and screw in the oil filler cap again.
WARNING: On vehicles with a manual transaxle, place the transaxle in neutral. Failure to follow this instruction may result in injury.
3. Start the engine and let it run for approximately five minutes.
4. Stop the engine.
NOTE: If no leak is found, road test the vehicle under various load conditions and recheck the engine for leaks.
5. Check the engine for oil leaks using an appropriate UV leak detector.
6. Eliminate the causes of leaks found and check the engine for oil leaks.
