Fuel injectors are thin injectors with five holes ("pencil" type) with a central location relative to the recesses of the pistons. The injectors are attached to the cylinder head with clips.
The nozzle tips are protected from direct contact with the cylinder head by means of copper heat shield washers. Each time the injectors are removed, new washers should be installed.
The best (as much as possible) Mixing is provided by swirl air inlet and high fuel injection pressure.
High pressure fuel pump
The Ford Focus has a Bosch VP-30 distributor type high pressure fuel pump. The pump is chain driven from the crankshaft and has an integral pump control unit located on the top surface of the pump.
The pump control module receives data from the steering angle sensor located in the high pressure fuel pump and the powertrain control module (PCM). The pump control unit calculates the operating signals for the high pressure solenoid valve and the fuel injection timing solenoid valve, which makes it possible to control the fuel supply through the high pressure solenoid valve.
The fuel supply system has a built-in function that prevents the fuel in the fuel tank from being completely used up (before draining the tank) and air entering the system. In the first stage of the run without fuel strategy, when the fuel level in the fuel tank reaches 9% of the full tank, the low fuel level warning lamp should be on. When the fuel level in the fuel tank reaches 4% of the full tank, the engine starts to misfire and the maximum speed engine crankshaft will decrease until the engine stalls.
A new high pressure fuel pump may be shipped locked or unlocked. This can be determined by inspecting the injection pump drive shaft lock bolt. The blocked high pressure fuel pump is equipped with a hex bolt and comes with a spacer. The unlocked high pressure fuel pump is fitted with a hex socket bolt and does not have any spacer. A blocked fuel pump drive shaft must not be rotated.
The high pressure fuel pump must be primed with fuel before attempting to start the engine. For more information, refer to the High Pressure Fuel Pump chapter found in this section.
When installing a new high pressure fuel pump, the fuel system must be drained.
If the high pressure fuel lines have been disconnected on one side or the other or have been completely removed, they must be replaced with new ones during installation, because. it is impossible to guarantee their correct connection.
