The fuel manifold is a one-piece die-cast aluminum construction with machined holes for mounting the fuel pressure regulator and fuel injectors. The fuel manifold is attached to the engine with two bolts.
The pressure regulator is inserted directly into the fuel rail and secured with two bolts. Sealing is provided by two O-rings.
The fuel pressure regulator is a spring-loaded diaphragm vacuum operated device designed to maintain a constant pressure in the fuel rail by diverting excess fuel back to the fuel tank.
The fuel injectors are mounted directly to the fuel rail and are secured by the fuel rail itself when connected to the intake manifold. Sealing is provided by upper and lower O-rings. The fuel injectors are sequentially activated by the powertrain control module, which changes the fuel delivery parameters by adjusting the injector open time according to engine operating conditions.
