Throttle body (1.6L Duratec)

Withdrawal

CAUTION: Do not attempt to clean the throttle body. The bore and butterfly valve have a special coating applied at the factory that should not be removed.

1. Disconnect the air filter outlet pipe from the throttle body and position it aside.



2. Disconnect the accelerator cable from the throttle body lever.

• 1. Rotate the throttle body lever.
• 2. Disconnect the accelerator cable from the throttle body lever.

3. Disconnect the accelerator cable from the accelerator cable bracket.

• 1. Release the locking tabs.
• 2. Remove the accelerator cable.

4. Disconnect the throttle body from the intake manifold.



5. Disconnect the throttle position sensor connector (TP) and remove the throttle body.

• Remove the gasket and discard it as no longer needed.

Installation

CAUTION: Do not attempt to clean the throttle body. The bore and butterfly valve have a special coating applied at the factory that should not be removed.

NOTE: Install a new throttle body gasket.

Reinstall the elements in reverse order.
