Draining and refilling transmission fluid

1. Raise and support the vehicle. See Section 100-02 for more information.

2. Remove the drain plug of the gearbox in the block with the drive axle.

• Allow the oil to drain into a suitable container.
• Discard the seal.

NOTE: Install a new drain plug seal.

NOTE: Clean drain plug threads.

Install drain plug.



4. Remove the filler plug of the gearbox in the block with the drive axle.

CAUTION: The fill volume of the transaxle unit is 1.7 liters. When adding hydraulic fluid to the transaxle, add approximately 1.5L - 1.6L.

With the vehicle on a level surface, fill the transaxle to a level below the lower edge of the filler plug channel with manual transmission fluid.



6. Install the transmission filler plug in the drive axle assembly.



7. Lower the car.
