Oil pump — removal and installation

General equipment: Pointed ruler.

Withdrawal

1. Remove the front oil seal from the crankshaft. For more information, refer to the Front Crankshaft Oil Seal chapter found in this section.

2. Disconnect the air conditioning compressor from the bracket and secure it to the radiator cross member.



3. Remove A/C compressor bracket (for clarity, the engine is shown removed).



4. Remove the intermediate shaft intermediate bearing bracket.



5. Remove the oil pan. For more information, refer to the Oil Sump chapter found in this section.


6. Remove the inlet oil line. Discard the O-ring as it is no longer needed.

CAUTION: To facilitate subsequent installation, mark the installation position of the shims between the gearbox and the lower crankcase. When installing the oil pump, the shims must be installed in their original position.

Remove the bottom section of the crankcase (shown with engine removed for clarity). Discard the gasket as it is no longer needed.



8. Remove the accessory drive belt tensioner.



9. Remove the oil pump (shown with engine removed for clarity). Discard the gasket as it is no longer needed.

Installation

NOTE: Replace the oil pump gasket.

NOTE: Do not fully tighten the oil pump bolts at this stage.

Install the oil pump (shown with engine removed for clarity).



2. Align the position of the oil pump on both sides, using a pointed ruler so that the contact surface is located 0.3 mm - 0.8 mm above the lower edge of the cylinder block.



3. Tighten the oil pump bolts, working in two steps (for clarity, the engine is shown removed).

• Stage 1: 6 Nm
• Stage 2: 45 degrees

4. Install the accessory drive belt tensioner.

CAUTION: Make sure all shims between gearbox and lower case are in their original position.

NOTE: Tighten the bolts on the gearbox first.

NOTE: Replace the lower crankcase gasket.

Install the lower crankcase (shown with engine removed for clarity).

NOTE: Replace the oil inlet O-ring.

Install the oil inlet line.



7. Install the oil pan. For more information, refer to the Oil Sump chapter found in this section.

8. Install the intermediate shaft intermediate bearing bracket.



9. Install A/C compressor bracket (for clarity, the engine is shown removed).



10. Install the air conditioning compressor on the bracket.



11. Install the front oil seal on the crankshaft. For more information, refer to the Front Crankshaft Oil Seal chapter found in this section.
