Replacing wheel speed sensors

            0

Rear wheel speed sensor mounted on the rear wheel hub.

NOTE: For clarity, the rear suspension spring has been removed and the lower shock mount has been disconnected.

You will need a TORX T25 wrench to replace the rear wheel speed sensors.

1. Clean the sensor wiring harness block and the hub surface around the sensor mounting area from dirt.

2. Disconnect from the gauge block of a plait of wires.

3. Remove the screw securing the sensor to the rear wheel hub..

NOTE: For clarity, operation is shown with the hub removed.

4.... and remove the sensor from the hub hole.

NOTE: The sensor is sealed with a rubber ring. Replace a severely compressed, torn or hardened ring.

5. Install the sensor in the reverse order of removal.

WARNING: When installing the sensor, precisely align the hole in its body with the threaded hole in the hub, do not rotate the sensor around the longitudinal axis during installation.

WARNING: An increase in resistance to movement of the sensor should only be felt for the last 2 mm before it is fully seated on the hub. If the sensor is tight in the hub hole from the very beginning of the installation, remove the sensor and eliminate the cause of the jam (dirt, burr on the body, etc.).

Front wheel speed sensor installed in the hole of the steering knuckle of the front suspension (in the photo it is covered with a front brake disc, so the place of its installation is shown by a dotted arrow). The sensor is similar in design to the rear wheel speed sensor and is fixed in the steering knuckle in the same way. Therefore, the tools and techniques for removing and installing this sensor are the same as for removing the rear wheel speed sensor (see above in this subsection).
