NOTE: To protect the engine crankcase, as well as all components and assemblies located in the engine compartment, from damage by stones flying out from under the wheels, a plastic or steel shield can be installed on the car on request. However, it should be borne in mind that this shield is not able to protect the engine crankcase from strong impacts against large road obstacles (large stones, stumps, curbs, etc.), since in this case he himself may be damaged and will not be able to protect the engine crankcase from damage.
The mudguard and engine crankcase protection are removed if they are damaged or to provide access to components and assemblies from below the car during repairs and maintenance. This section describes the removal and installation of only the engine mudguard, since the additional engine crankcase protection is fixed in each case individually (depending on its design).
You will need a TORX T30 key.
The engine mudguard with its front edge is wound behind the lower flanging of the front bumper and attached to the lower cross member of the radiator frame with seven self-tapping screws. The photo shows four screws on the left side. The remaining three screws securing the right side of the mudguard are symmetrical.
1. Remove the seven screws securing the engine mudguard to the lower cross member of the radiator frame..
2.... and remove the mudguard.
3. Install the engine mudguard in the reverse order of removal.
