Withdrawal
1. Raise the front and rear of the vehicle and place them on stands. Fully release the handbrake lever.
2. Remove the central console (chapter 11).
3. Working under the vehicle, lift the exhaust system out of its rubber mounts. Lower the exhaust system as low as possible and place it on stands.
4. Disconnect the heat-insulating casing of the exhaust system from the bottom.
5. Unhook secondary (rear) handbrake cables from equalizer bar (see fig.26.5).
6. From inside the passenger compartment, unscrew the two mounting bolts securing the handbrake lever to the floor (see fig. 26.6).
7. Turn the lever upside down. Disconnect the primary cable trailer from the segment.
8. Take out the lever from the car.
Installation
9. Installation - in the reverse order of removal.
10. The primary cable must be properly installed on the segment.
11. Pull the latch away from the adjustment mechanism, raise the lever and pull it out 40 mm (see fig.26.11) (approximately). Release the latch so that it locks the mechanism and release the cable. The mechanism will be in the correct position.
12. Before resuming travel, check the operation of the hand brake.
