Engine Assembly Sequence

            0

1. Before starting assembly, make sure that all necessary parts, assemblies and tools are available. Read the full description of the entire workflow in order to understand the essence and make sure that you have everything you need to assemble. In addition to the usual tools and materials, you will need a suitable sealant for non-gasketed mating surfaces.

Please note: Some highly volatile substances can get into the oxygen sensor and damage it. Before using any substance (solvent, sealant) consult with Ford experts.

Ford recommends Hylosil 102 for joints: cylinder block/crankcase with sump, oil pump, lip housings and Loctite 518 for joints: right camshaft covers. In other joints where gaskets are provided, the mating surfaces must be clean and flat to ensure a reliable seal.

Do not use silicon-based sealant to seal fuel system or intake manifold components, and never seal the exhaust system with sealants in front of (in the direction of flow) catalytic converter.

2. In order to prevent difficulties and reduce time, assemble in the following order:
  • A) Crankshaft (paragraph 18).
  • b) Connecting rod and piston groups (paragraph 19).
  • V) Oil pump (chapter 2A or 2B).
  • G) Pallet (chapter 2A or 2B).
  • d) Handwheel/faceplate (chapter 2A or 2B).
  • e) Head (-And) block (chapter 2A or 2B).
  • and) Toothed belt/timing chains, tensioner (-And), toothed pulleys (chapter 2A or 2B).
  • h) External parts and components of the engine.

3. When assembling, all engine parts and assemblies must be perfectly clean and dry, and all their malfunctions must be eliminated beforehand. Engine parts and assemblies must be laid out on a clean surface (or in boxes).
