Hand brake
Check the operation of the hand brake. Excessive displacement (too many clicks) indicates a faulty brake or incorrect cable adjustment.
Make sure the handbrake does not release when you push the lever on the side. Check up reliability of fastening of the lever.
Foot brake
Depress the brake pedal and check that it does not reach the butt, which would indicate a master cylinder failure. Release the pedal, wait a few seconds, then press again. If the brake pedal almost reaches the floor, this indicates that the brake needs to be adjusted or rebuilt. If you feel a firmness when you press the pedal, this indicates the presence of air in the hydraulic system, which must be removed by pumping.
Check that the brake pedal is secure and in good condition. Also check for leaks around the pedal on the floor or carpets, which would indicate a seal failure in the brake master cylinder.
Check the brake booster unit (if available), while pressing the brake pedal several times, and then, without releasing the pedal, start the engine. After starting the engine, the pedal should drop slightly. If this does not happen, then it is possible that the vacuum hose or amplifier is faulty.
Steering wheel and steering column
Check the steering wheel for cracks or looseness.
Move the steering wheel from side to side and then up and down. Check that the steering wheel is not loose on the column, which would indicate wear or loosening of the mounting nut. Continue rocking the steering wheel as before, not turning it slightly to the left or right.
Make sure there is no "chatty" the steering wheel on the column and the absence of its excessive backlash, which would indicate wear on the couplings or bearings of the steering column.
Windshield and mirrors
The windshield must not have cracks or other significant damage obstructing the driver's view. (Small marks from stones are acceptable). Rear-view mirrors should be securely fastened and easily adjustable. They must not be damaged.
Seat belts and seats
Note: The following checks apply to both the front and rear seat belts.
Inspect the straps (including rear ones if installed) for cracks and significant wear. Fasten and unfasten each belt to check the buckles. Check the operation of the tension mechanism (if available). Check the fastening of the belt supports.
The front seats must be securely locked in the selected position, the seatbacks must be locked in the upright position.
Doors
Both front doors must open and close both from the outside and from the inside and securely latch in the closed position.
