In the production of cars, small changes in their design constantly occur, information about which is not always published. Catalogs and spare parts lists are based on numerical designations. To accurately identify the components installed on the car, you need to know the numerical designations (codes) car.
When ordering spare parts, always provide the supplier with as much information as you know. Specify the model, year of manufacture, as well as registration numbers of the chassis and engine of your car.
The vehicle identification plate is located on the front cross member of the engine compartment (see fig. 3.1). it contains various parameters and, in particular, the total weight of the vehicle and codes for interior trim and body color.
The vehicle identification number is also marked on the identification plate. In addition, it is stamped on the bulkhead of the engine compartment, behind the antechamber and on the body so that it can be seen looking through the lower left corner of the windshield (see fig. 3.2, a, b).
The engine registration number consists of two letters and five digits followed by three letters of the engine code. It is stamped on the machined surface of the flange located on the front side of the cylinder block - between the filter housing of the pulse air supply system and the transmission. To see the number without removing the intake duct resonator, see Chapter 4. The easiest way is to lift the front end and install it on supports, then the number can be seen by looking at it from below (see fig.3.3). If you did not see the number from below, then it is possible that it is located on the lower flange of the front side of the cylinder block - directly above the interface with the pan or on the cylinder head - on the left side, between the oil filler cap and the ignition coil.
