Removal, installation and adjustment of a cable of the selector

Withdrawal


1. Apply the parking brake, raise the front end and place it on stands. Remove the left front wheel.

2. Remove the air mass meter and chute (chapter 4) to access the selector cable, which is located on the left side of the transmission.

3. Working under the vehicle, remove the heat shield to access the bottom of the selector lever assembly.

4. Disconnect the cable from the bottom of the selector lever assembly.

5. Turn the cable sheath retaining ring 90°counterclockwise to release it from the selector lever plate located on the bottom of the selector lever. Turn the circlip to hold the bushing.

6. In the engine compartment, pull the cable end from the transmission lever (see fig. 3.6).



7. Turn out from transmission bolts of a basic arm of a cable (see fig. 3.7).



8. Disconnect the remaining cable supports and remove the cable assembly from the vehicle.


Installation and adjustment


9. Installation - in the reverse order of removal. Adjust the cable as follows.

10. Set the selector to position D.

11. When the cable is disconnected from the transmission lever, make sure that the lever is in position D. To do this, move the lever up and down so that it is correctly installed. Next step: checking the alignment of the D mark on the selector lever position sensor (see fig. 3.11).



12. Make sure that the cable retaining ring is not locked, that is, turned counterclockwise by 90°.

13. When the transmission lever and selector lever are in the (D), install the cable end switch on the transmission lever. Then turn the retaining ring counterclockwise to secure it.

14. Install the heat insulating casing on the bottom.

15. Install the air mass meter and chute.

16. Install the left front wheel and lower the vehicle to the ground.

17. Check the car on a trip by checking the operation of the transmission.
