1) whether the wiper moves in both directions at the same speed, whether the wipers return to their original position after being turned off;
2) Is the intermittent wiper operating?
3) whether water is injected from the washer nozzles;
4) Is the windshield wiper and rear window washer working?
Note: The windshield wiper and washer are protected by fuse No. 20 in the vehicle's relay and fuse box.
Filling the washer reservoir with water
In the summer, fill the tank with tap water; special detergents are added to it to improve the quality of work. In winter, a special non-freezing agent is additionally added. Fill the windshield washer reservoir with water as follows:
- first pour in the additional product, and then pour in the water so that they mix well;
- in severe frost, the windshield washer nozzles can freeze, so fill the tank with anti-freeze liquid.
Removing the wiper arm
Remove the wiper arm as follows:
- press the protective cover of the wiper arm with a flat screwdriver and fold it back;
- loosen the fixing nut two turns;
- move the lever from the side to release the cone of the wiper lever axis and not damage the radiator lining, place a large rag on the right and left;
- Completely unscrew the nut from the axis of the wiper arm and remove it;
- check in which position the lever was installed in order to subsequently install it in the same position, and disconnect the lever from the shaft;
- Install the wiper arms so that they are parallel to the lower windshield gasket, pay attention to the fact that the new arm occupies the same position as the removed arm;
- After installation, turn on the windshield wipers and check the ease of their movement.
