Duratec 2.5 liter VE engine

This engine is made entirely of aluminium, with a two-section cylinder block. The four overhead camshafts are driven by two control chains. Other features of this engine are the following: electronic engine management, fully electronic ignition system, electronic sequential fuel injection system, exhaust gas recirculation system and the presence of two catalytic converters in the exhaust system.

A typical engine produces 125 kW at 6250 rpm. 200 hp engine developed on the basis of this engine, but its power was increased to 151 kW (205 HP) through the following changes:

- new camshafts with variable valve timing;

- modified intake manifold;

- modified exhaust pipes;

- compression ratio 10.25:1;

- modified connecting rods;

- modernized exhaust gas regulation.
