On these engines, the O-ring is located in the oil pump housing. If the oil seal is not tight, the toothed drive belt must be removed as described for these engines to get to the front end of the crankshaft. Then remove the crankshaft pulley. The O-ring can be removed using two self-tapping screws and pliers. For installation, a piece of pipe of a suitable diameter is best suited. Using it and using a large washer, you can insert a radial sealing ring with a screw for the crankshaft belt pulley.

After installing the oil seal, put the pulley on the crankshaft. Pay attention to the inscription «Front» on one side of the pulley. Once installed, it should point outwards, as shown in fig. 93.
After installation, reassemble the timing mechanism as described in the relevant subsection for pre-May 1998 engines.
