Diagnostics of the ignition system

            0

Diagnostics of the ignition system is recommended to be carried out at specialized service stations. But if a malfunction occurs in the system, you can diagnose it yourself.

The procedure for diagnosing the ignition system:

- visual inspection;

- check sparking;

- check the voltage supply to the control unit;

- check the ignition coil;

- if the fault is not found, it is necessary to contact a specialized service station.

When checking sparking, it is necessary to determine:

- reliability of connection of wires and plug contacts;

- no damage (cracks or signs of warping) on the filling mastic of the ignition coil;

- All parts of the ignition system must be dry and clean.

Checking the voltage of the secondary winding of the ignition coil

To check the voltage, do the following:

- Remove one spark plug;

- put the tip on the spark plug and fix it on the engine block in such a way that it makes good contact with «weight» and could not be reset by engine vibration. Do not hold the candle with your hand.

- Scroll the crankshaft of the engine with a starter;

- if strong spark discharges jump on the spark plug electrode, there is current in the ignition system at least on this ignition coil, the ignition system is most likely in good order;

- if there are no sparks, then try to repeat the operation on another cylinder;

- if there is still no spark at the spark plug, have the ignition system checked by a specialized workshop.
