- increased oil consumption;
- low oil pressure.
Increased oil consumption can be caused by the following reasons:
- wear of cylinders, pistons and/or piston rings;
- worn valve guide bushings or guide bushing o-rings;
- leakage of crankshaft oil seals or other seals on the engine.
Low oil pressure can be caused by the following reasons:
- damage to the pressure gauge (if installed) or its wiring;
- damage to the oil pressure switch or its wiring;
- damage to the pressure reducing valve;
- low oil level;
- clogged oil filter in the crankcase;
- faulty oil pump;
- damaged main or connecting rod bearings.
Warning: If the oil pressure warning light does not turn off immediately after starting the engine, stop the engine immediately. Otherwise, the crank mechanism may jam.
