Oil consumption

            0

The main cause of oil consumption during engine operation is waste. Well-run engines consume 0.2 liters per 1000 kilometers. The maximum allowable fuel consumption is 1.5 liters per 1000 km.

The following factors influence oil consumption:

- oil overflow leads to higher consumption, as the crankcase ventilation system blows excess oil out of the engine;

- oil viscosity: liquid oil burns faster than thick;

- driving style (sporty demeanor contributes to increased oil consumption). This is especially true during the engine break-in period;

- oil leaks;

- wear of engine parts (failure of valve stem seals, too much clearance between the valve guide and valve stem, incorrectly installed or defective piston rings, damage to the cylinder mirror).

To determine engine oil consumption:

- fill the oil exactly to the top mark;

- after a run of 500 or 1000 km, add oil again to the upper mark from the measuring container and determine the oil consumption per 1000 km.
