Dismantling and installation of the trunk lid

This work in all models is approximately the same. Below is the procedure for the sedan model.

PROCEDURE

Park your Mondeo on a level surface, disconnect the battery and open the trunk lid. Remove the cover lock and disconnect the connector of the central door lock system. Remove the inner lining of the cover (11 mounting clips) and fasten a piece of string to the free end of the connector. Remove the rubber lug in the opening at the top of the side wall and then pull the wire out of the cover. Mark the position of the hinges on the trunk lid with a felt-tip pen. Have an assistant hold the trunk lid while unscrewing the hinge screws on both sides (indicated by arrows). Unscrew the four hinge screws (indicated by arrows) on the trunk lid. Remove the cover and place it so that it cannot tip over. Carry out installation in reverse order. If the old cover cannot be remounted, before mounting, assemble a new element from «entrails» unnecessary lid. Lightly fasten the cover first and then adjust its position according to the markings. Align the new cap first by eye.
