Ford in Mondeo not only placed new forms and lines on the outside, at the same time the interior of the car, in the language of forms, also acquired its new framing design. Already in the early stages of development, Mondeo designers inherited their - at that time still digital - «baby» precise spatial structural subdivision, during the creative phase, their inspirations at every turn were helped to realize a large computer and state-of-the-art software: the 2001 Mondeo was completely digitally created. Thus, for the first time in Ford, the process of designing and developing a car through specialized software was implemented «car design». It was a combination of digital computer-aided design tools (CAD), automated design (CAE), automated production (CAM) and production information management (PIM), which brought together all the components for a joint «purposeful work» over Mondeo. The tool, called C3P, simultaneously combined the properties «communication genius» And «time machines»: C3P has reduced the usual time for design and development to 13 months. Precious time in which the Mondeo developers were free to adjust «other structural units» your child.
With the help of C3P, already from the primary screen information, it was possible to realistically and interconnectedly present the future basic proportions of the car, for example, the type of interior or the spatial position and location of individual units «digital baby».
Mondeo developers also used «dictate» mainframe, they coordinated their own «outbreaks of mental labor» with the general concept of digital «line judges».
The big computer was doing its «hometasks» very consistently and purposefully: to make the salon comfortable for five people and to decorate «living space» trunk, it has reduced to a minimum the need for space for all mechanical components, «pushed apart» compared to the Mondeo I wheelbase by 50 millimeters and increased overall length by 175 millimeters.
Mondeo driver enjoys this now «digital dictate» on every kilometer: while driving, he stays in a generous size and tasteful «decorated» cabin and, if necessary, uses the exemplary volume of the trunk. The driver and his companion travel first class in a medium class vehicle, while the three rear seats provide long excursions on a well «delineated» rear bench without feeling pressure on the elbows and knees: 969 millimeters of legroom, 937 millimeters of knee room and 1,393 millimeters of shoulder width for passengers are optimal dimensions for the middle class. The highest class applies to the security system, Ford advertising texts even boasted the presence of IPS (Intelligent Protection System), thanks to which the driver and the passenger sitting next to him are protected by active and passive means.

Two-stage front airbags, as well as side, head and shoulder airbags respond to information from the most advanced crash sensors in the Mondeo. Active head restraints (front), three-point seat belts on all seats, as well as seat belt pretensioners and a load-dependent belt force limiter (front) complement «armament» Mondeo security products. Well, in order for the driver’s legs to receive the appropriate «chances of survival», were «rendered harmless» possible break points for the Mondeo brake pedal: in a severe frontal collision, it «without resistance» unhooks and falls on the bottom sheet.
By «sizes» here everything is also well coordinated. And for little kids «isofix-aged», needless to say, will be found in the Mondeo «their» seats and can be locked separately from their parents in the rear seats.
Functionality, tastefully designed controls and high-quality materials define the atmosphere of the Mondeo cabin: every detail is finely crafted – visually and efficiently. Take the dashboard, for example: its beautifully designed instrumentation and smoothly integrated center console are very impressive, and the attractive faux-material grips indicate that Ford has also opened the Haptik as a possible selling point in addition to the optics. The interiors of the Ambiente and Trend versions, as well as the models with leather interiors, are tastefully designed in uniform colors - only the top models with the Ghia emblem have a horizontally divided color scheme.
The driver gets to all the main switches and controls directly sitting in front of the steering wheel: analog clock, audio system (optionally with steering wheel control panel), as well as the AC panel are located on the center console. In addition, with their new clothes «shines» and the luggage compartment «swallows» bulky things with its flat loading floor and «chains» to the side walls is a box with medicines and an emergency stop sign. Without a doubt, all these novelties in the second «publication» Mondeo affect its selling price.
We deliberately recommend there only maintenance and repair work that does not place excessive demands on knowledgeable amateurs.
Why do we dwell in such detail here on «internal architecture» - not like this before «happened», and today it has become more and more, or is it not worth doing? What if you still think about it? The power window in the driver's door, for example, rarely «will live» full life of the car. A «false» interior lamp or «worn out» the rearview mirror sometimes confronts your «tool box», even if it could be your favorite. And later, if you have to resell your «horse», a systematically well-groomed interior not only creates a good impression for the buyer, but also adds a couple of hundred euros to its cost.
