Ventilation and heating

            0

Part of the oncoming air flow passes through the ventilation grill in front of the front glass and then enters the vehicle inside the air distribution system to the corresponding ventilation nozzles. The nozzles on the dashboard can be adjusted: depending on the need, you can change the direction and flow of the air flow. The nozzles in the footwell do not have these properties; the nozzles for drying and heating are fixedly mounted here.

Before the fresh air gets to the nozzles, it already passes through the dust and pollen filters. The pollen filter - under the air inlet grille on the driver's side - is a standard feature and here you can choose between two different filter elements:
  • Standard Pollen Filter: It filters particles larger than 3 microns from the air, as well as pollen, dust and diesel soot.
  • Combined activated carbon filter (option): has the same properties as the standard filter. In addition, the activated carbon layer on the filter element plates neutralizes unpleasant odors and binds ozone.

If you have to travel with a standard filter and pesky industrial gases «flavor» your nose, you can immediately create your own microclimate with the air recirculation button. This process only works for a short time in Mondeo, otherwise, mainly in autumn and winter, you would quickly have to «put out» your body in its own juice. Later, when the windows fog up, blow fresh air directly onto the windows. In the Mondeo, this process is done for you by the air distributor regulator - it automatically restores the internal air circulation to the state «Fresh air». The regulator is also activated when, after a short pause in driving, you turn on the ignition again. So that you can’t get in Mondeo in principle «clearance», free air flow (forced exhaust ventilation) while driving is directed past the windows.

Constant care for fresh air - forced exhaust ventilation

Forced exhaust ventilation, even with closed nozzles and windows, ensures constant air exchange in the passenger compartment. Depending on the position of the air deflectors, the distribution nozzles can be used to create a varied interior climate. Part of the outside fresh air for this is directed to the aluminum plates of the heat exchanger of the heating system and then mixed with cold air to the desired temperature level. In the absence of a fan, the ventilation process is speed-dependent, so for short distances and when driving in cities, the fan should always be set to level 1 or 2 for good health. The fan is positioned in front of the heat exchanger so that the passenger compartment is not cooled down even on cold days.
