Checking the brake system

            0

PROCEDURE
  1. In order to unequivocally localize leaks, your car must be dry from below. So choose a non-rainy day and spend «inspection».
  2. Check all hose connections and connecting pipes, as well as the brake caliper. Dark spots and damp spots are a sure sign of a leak.
  3. Also check the brake hoses for chafing, they may be wet or swollen. In any case, replace such hoses.
  4. To protect against rust, pipelines are covered with a plastic layer. Therefore, clean the outside of the brake pipes only with a brush, cold cleaner or washing gasoline, never with a screwdriver, sandpaper or wire brush. If the protective layer is damaged, «save» your pipeline with an anti-corrosion primer. As soon as you find rusty wounds, deformations or marks from stone impacts, replace these pipelines immediately.
  5. Check that dust dampers are still on all ventilation flaps. If not, then make sure you have them.
  6. Regularly carry out a pressure test of the brake actuators. To do this, fully depress the brake pedal with full force for about a minute - as if full braking is being performed. In this case, the pedal should not go down «to the ground». If so, then there are defective cuffs in the main brake cylinder or brake calipers. Pay attention next to damp places. More correctly, such a test can be carried out using a pressure rod indicator - this is a typical case for a workshop.
