Functional check of the brakes

            0

The brake test is only carried out on the road if it is not obstructed or endangered by other road users. For this test, find a flat, as remote as possible section of the road with good coverage. In vehicles with ABS, you must first turn it off.

PROCEDURE
  1. Drive at a slow pace at first, press the clutch and then brake hard. Now compare the brake tracks on the road - tracks of the same length indicate evenly acting brakes. Then do the same «exercise» with parking brake.
  2. At the second stage, accelerate your car up to 50 km/h - do not squeeze the steering wheel convulsively and do not correct the direction of movement during the braking process. Then brake gently at first and then sharply until you come to a complete stop. The car must remain confidently in a straight line. Otherwise the brakes «pull» one way. In any case, find a workshop that has a brake test stand.
  3. To check the operation of the brake components in the third stage in idle mode, on a slightly sloping section of the road, your Mondeo simply rolls down from «resting states». If it rolls «weakly», all wheels are free and the gap between the brake segments and brake discs is in order.
  4. After a short test drive, check the temperature of the wheels: to do this, put your hand on their stars - all wheels should be equally warm.
