PROCEDURE
  1. On level ground, securely jack up the vehicle and remove the appropriate front wheel.
  2. On the suspension strut, release the brake hose holder and stabilizer bar connecting rod.
  3. Remove the disc brake caliper together with the brake shield (indicated by arrows) from the swivel bearing and hang them with a wire in the wheel arch.

  5. ...reflector with auxiliary frame.
  6. Lower the corresponding side of the subframe as described above and remove the ball joint.
  7. Unscrew the clamping screw (indicated by an arrow) from the shock absorber.


    Unscrew the clamping screw from the suspension strut.
  8. Support the drive shaft. The maximum allowable bending angle of the inner hinge is 18°and the outer hinge, respectively, 45°. Separate the steering knuckle from the shock absorber and...
  9. ... dismantle facing of a rack in a motor compartment.
  10. Remove the suspension strut and at the same time ask the assistant to support it.
  11. Carry out installation in reverse order. For installation, it is necessary that the rack is strictly centered between the protrusions of the suspension strut. Make sure the arrow and the white line at the top are pointing forward.
  12. Tighten the upper screws to the stop only when the steering gear pivot bearing with suspension strut is locked in its mounting position.
  13. Carry out a test drive, then check all screw connections and after that drive your Mondeo in each case to the front axle optical check and geometry adjustment station.
