Front axle Mondeo

            0

Takes on large lateral forces: Mondeo front axle.

1 - Auxiliary frame,
2 - Brakes with inertia moment compensator,
3 - MacPherson strut,
4 - Hydraulic rack and pinion steering,
5 - Anti-roll bar,
6 - L-shaped transverse suspension arm.

Independent wheel suspension: According to the MacPherson system (patented in 1949). Compact unit consisting of shock absorber, spring and wheel hub (guide).

Suspension strut: It consists of a coil spring and a telescopic shock absorber that works inside the coils of the spring.

The internal stops of the shock absorber limit the amount of reverse travel from below. In the event of severe elastic deformations - for example, when hitting a pothole - the thrust limiter comes into action. It prevents a situation where the spring is blocked and the shock absorber suddenly collapses.

Protrusion of a shock-absorbing rack (in the wing): Covers the suspension strut. From above it is made in the form of a rubber support (protective support), which, introduced through the centering ring, rests on top and bottom of the disc discs. The spring strut piston rod is screwed into the rubber support.

Swivel support: Holds the lower end of the suspension strut with a clamping screw. It is connected to the transverse lever by means of a ball joint. The pin of the ball joint is firmly clamped in the transverse arm. The transverse lever enters the bearing beam of the bridge, can move in it and takes on the resulting lateral forces.

Roll Stabilizer: It is located on the front axle of the car and can be twisted. Reduces lateral tilt of the body when cornering.

Rack and pinion steering: attached to the back of the engine. The two-link steering shaft directly acts on the rack, at the ends of which the left and right tie rods are respectively screwed. The steering wheel turns are transmitted to the steering knuckle lever and thus to the wheels.
Agile and comfortable: the new friction-optimized front axle with MacPherson strut has been thoroughly modernized - there is not a single element identical with the first generation Mondeo.

1 - Stabilizer,
2 - Stabilizer mount,
3 - Connecting rod of the stabilizer with an internal hex,
4 - shock absorber,

5 - Swivel fist,
6 - Steering gear,
7 - the transverse suspension arm,
8 - Additional frame.

Rear axle Mondeo

Quadralink rear axle suspension: Separate additional frame in deep-forged steel. Axle components such as upper wishbone, lower wishbone, shock absorber, springs, tie rods, anti-roll bar and brake mechanism are integrally connected to the axle beam.

Springing: telescopic shock absorbers and springs rest on the body in the upper areas of the wheel arches.

Quadralink independent suspension: Mondeo rear axle

1 - Auxiliary frame,
2 - Brake mechanism,

3 - Shock absorber with helical spring,
4 - Anti-roll bar.

Toe-corrected: Quadralink-named independent rear axle suspension on 4-/5-door model

1 - Auxiliary frame,
2 - Stabilizer connecting rod,
3 - Spring,

4 - Wheel bearing with hub,
5 - Swivel fist,
6 - Side lever.

Height adjustable: station wagon rear axle

1 - Shock absorber with height adjustment,
2 - Wheel bearing with hub,
3 - Side lever pocket,

4 - Eccentric screw,
5 - Stabilizer connecting rod,
6 - Stabilizer.

HAZARD INSTRUCTIONS

For an amateur about working with the chassis and steering gear

Carrying out work on the undercarriage or steering gear requires appropriate experience and often even special tools, as well as optical and electronic measuring instruments. Therefore, it is better to transfer these works to the workshop workers: the results of improperly carried out repairs will be dangerous both for you and for other road users. Replace defective wheel suspension parts in general with both new and good used parts - there is nothing in the wheel suspension that will «should be straightened or welded»! Be sure to carry out the necessary measurements and adjustments in a specialized workshop after repairing the chassis or steering gear.
