- Remove the tie rod ends as described above and accurately count the number of threads when unscrewing (see section Replacement of tie rod ends).
Mondeo with diesel engine
- Remove the engine cover.
- When replacing the left cuff, the wheel arch trim must first be removed.

All models
- Unscrew the tie rod end lock nut and clean the tie rod.
- Now pull out the ventilation tube 1 from the rubber cuff and «crack» pressure strips 2.

- Install in reverse order depending on the model. Do not forget to clean and lightly lubricate the tie rod before installation.
- Carefully pull the new cuffs over the tie rod. Lightly lubricate the cuffs at both ends first. Make sure that the cuffs do not rotate (vent tube connection points up) and correctly sat in the grooves of the tie rod, as well as the steering gear housing. Otherwise, the oil may leak out or the cuff will break over time.
- Fasten the cuffs with new clamping collars and...
- ...re-measure the geometry of the front axle.
