If, despite the correct level of electrolyte in the battery, it creates «sluggish» impression, using a special device, check the degree of discharge. Simplified, this device is a glass cylinder, inside of which there are special corrections (hydrometer) measures the level of electrolyte density. To do this, the hydrometer checks the electrolytic concentration of the absorbed battery fluid. Of course, you can also measure the discharge level with a multimeter (reading accuracy±0.02 Volt): Based on the measured value of the steady voltage, you can determine the level of discharge of the battery.
Electrolyte density measurement

- Leave the battery for at least six hours before taking a measurement «at rest».
- Then remove the battery seal.
- Hold the meter vertically in the liquid and suck up enough electrolyte into it so that the hydrometer floats freely in the cylinder.

Electrolyte density measurement: this is only possible in batteries with serviced sections. Density is measured in each individual section. To do this, hold the decimeter 1 vertically and suck in enough electrolyte so that the float (aerometer 2) swam freely. IN «healthy» battery sections have approximately the same values. Compare them on scale 3 at the top of the aerometer. |

Voltage measurement

- If the last charging process took place less than six hours ago, then turn on the dipped beam for about 30 seconds: this will even out possible voltage peaks.
- After a further 4-5 minutes of waiting, check the battery voltage. In this case, first turn off all current consumers.
