Charging the battery

            0

Recharge monthly the dismantled or sent to «hibernation» battery. In a completely discharged battery, sulfuric acid crystals form, which are deposited on the walls. Consequences: over time cells «glassy» and become completely useless. In addition, discharged batteries freeze at sub-zero temperatures, below -4 they can even crack. In contrast, overcharged batteries are immune to cold. If you need to install a battery, then for «charge conservation» in any case, disconnect the negative cable (ground connection).

PROCEDURE
  1. disconnect the negative wire (ground connection) from the battery. Positive charger lead (red) connect to positive pole, negative wire (black) respectively to the negative pole of the battery.
  2. The charging current should initially be about 10% of the battery capacity (e.g. 4.0 A for a battery with 43 Ah) and during the charging process should automatically decrease.
  3. During the charging process, tiny gas bubbles of hydrogen and oxygen form on top of the cells. This mixture evaporates through the vents or the central ventilation system to the atmosphere. In this case, we are talking about a particularly explosive explosive gas. So be careful indoors. If you smell a pungent smell with your nose, its concentration in the room has become dangerous.
  4. Therefore, take good care of proper ventilation of the workplace. This applies especially to the situation when there are strong charging currents. Explosive gas can appear and ignite, however, when it appears «discharges», connecting and disconnecting the charger or battery wires. Therefore, observe the safety regulations.

    Refresh the battery monthly «hibernation».
