Cause |
elimination |
A. Brakes squeak. |
- Resonant noise between disc and pads.
- The pads are worn or hardened.
- The braking surfaces of the discs are heavily soiled, oily or worn.
- The pad guide in the caliper is dirty or rusty.
- The piston is blocked in the caliper.
|
- Replace the linings, if necessary, grease the bearing plates of the linings on the reverse side with a paste to reduce noise.
- Replace.
- «fix it» discs with an emery cloth or sand. Replace worn discs in pairs.
- Clean and sand.
- Make salable or repair the caliper.
|
B. Braking effect drops (decrease in efficiency). |
- Pedal travel is normal:
A) The pads are oily, burnt or hardened.
b) See A3. - Pedal travel is short:
The brake booster does not work or there is no low pressure in the booster. - Pedal travel long:
A) See A5.
b) Brake circuit failure. - Worn pads.
|
- Replace pads.
- Check amplifier; check the low pressure pipeline; check low pressure valve (clogged?) and replace if necessary.
- Check and replace defective parts.
- Replace pads.
|
B. With strong pressure on the brake pedal, weak braking power |
- See from A2 to A5.
- Look from B1 to B4.
|
— |
D. Weak brake pedal travel. |
- Air in the brake system.
- With overloaded brakes (driving in mountainous areas, the presence of a trailer) steam bubbles are formed (decrease in efficiency).
- The master brake cylinder is not properly secured.
|
- Check the brake system, pump it.
- Stop, cool your brakes. Drive and brake carefully, downshift frequently (engine braking).
- Check fastening.
|
E. The brake pedal can be fully depressed, but there is no braking effect. |
- Failure of the master brake cylinder.
- Cracked brake hose, leak in the connection.
- Brake fluid old or overheated (steam bubble formation).
|
- Replace.
- Replace.
- Replace.
|
E. Too much pedal travel. |
- Wheel bearing is loose or worn.
- The discs are oval, the pads are overturned.
- Brake fluid is leaking.
|
- Fasten, replace if necessary.
- Check discs and pads, replace if necessary.
- Check the hydraulic system of the brake system for tightness, eliminate the shortcomings.
|
G. Low brake fluid level. |
- Discs or pads are worn.
- Hydraulic leaks.
|
- Check discs or pads, replace if necessary.
- Check hydraulics for leaks and repair.
|
3. Brakes pull to one side. |
- The discs are defective or different pads.
- See A3.
- See A5.
- Incorrect tires or tire pressure.
- Defect in the steering mechanism.
- The shock absorber is worn out.
|
- Check, replace if necessary.
- —
- —
- Check; install proper tires; check tire pressure.
- Check.
- Check, replace if necessary.
|
I. The pads are heavily or unevenly worn. |
- Brake discs are rusted or cracked.
- See A5.
|
Check, replace if necessary. |
