We must pay tribute: the model program is quite diverse and meets a variety of tasks. The Mondeo, which has a rear-angled rear window-to-trunk angle, travels on the road more like a four-door variant, while the sloping-roof body rolls off production lines as a five-door variant. Well, the Turnier station wagon appears on the roads most often with five doors. Below is the Mondeo lineup:

At 15 hp more, with the same displacement, offers the first stage of power. With a 2.0-liter displacement, Ambiente has 107 kW (145 HP). Plus it has an automatic transmission. As a cold calculation Mondeo diesel engine then mobilizes 66 kW (90 HP). Another event, an improved base Mondeo with additional equipment, buyers purchase directly from the factory, although Ford traditionally equips its base versions already in full (see standard equipment) - that is «The main thing» installed in the car at the factory.
Mondeo Trend - the first choice for the comfort lover
Mondeo Trend is based on a completely «complete» basic Ambiente equipment. Buyers of the Trend model first undergo «flour of choice», that appear when looking at a company of possible engines. A 2.5-liter V6 with 125 kW is added to the powertrain used in the Ambiente model for the Trend model (170 HP) and reinforced up to 85 kW (115 HP) diesel engine with a displacement of 2.0 liters. In this diesel engine, however, like its younger counterpart in Ambiente, diesel fuel is injected in portions directly into the combustion chamber. In addition, Mondeo Trend differs from Ambiente in car-colored door handles and decorative moldings, fog lights are built into the bumper. In addition, both exterior mirrors are electrically heated and powered. Rear seat occupants can use the power windows and center armrest. The driver in Trend enjoys a leather-wrapped steering wheel with leather shifter, an instrument panel in a decorative aluminum frame, and an illuminated auxiliary mirror shared with his co-pilot. The lumbar vertebrae of a neighbor with back problems in the Trend model can be «unloaded» by adjusting the corresponding supports.
The Mondeo Ghia is the first choice for the sensitive buyer with a paid «luxury».
The Ghia model in the automotive world of the Ford concern is traditionally offered for those who love class «luxury»: on the example of the Mondeo Ghia, this means Ambiente plus Trend. For example... climate control with automatic temperature control... heated windshield, heated washer nozzles... 6.5J x 16'' light metal rims in company with 205/55 R 16 tires... heated front seats... heated footwell... non-slip foot mats... trip computer... rear-view mirror with automatic headlight dimming... instrument panel in dark gray to simulate wood, door trim strips in stainless steel...reading lights on the front. In addition, outwardly, Ghia users recognize this Top-Mondeo only by inscriptions, various emblems and typical Ghia 5-spoke wheels. Ghia driver offered as first choice diesel with 66 kW (90 HP), must decide for himself whether to have Ghia Luxus or two-digit power parameters: both components in one car cannot live together.
Mondeo Turnier is the first choice for pragmatic buyers
In principle, the Turnier model is the same as the sedans: «Mondeo loading area» the same as in the offspring of Ambiente, Trend and Ghia, depending on the equipment with all engines. Role «party truck» plays the Mondeo Turnier, armed with a 2.5-liter V6 engine and 125 kW (170 HP). Of course, its manufacturer said goodbye to the pricing strategy - in all variants, Turnier occupies the top of the price scale. Of course, for those who have taken advantage of the combi on weekdays in the beginning, the choice of the Turnier model is the first choice.
Mondeo ST220 is the first choice for «mobile» buyer
The ST220 is, to some extent, the most powerful model in the Mondeo range. Regardless of the shape of the rear end, the ST220 fits in any guise - assuming a power-optimized 3.0-liter Duratec-VE powertrain is mounted between the front drive wheels. The ST220 reaches the 60th V6 162kW (220 HP) at 6000 rpm, its maximum torque is 275 Nm at 4750 rpm. Technically, the beefy Mondeo is built in the tradition of the former RS-models, it has transferred their genes to a greater extent to the present day. Since the maintenance and repair work described in this volume is largely identical for all models, we do not recognize the ST220 in any way «special role». However, wherever the ST220 leads «personal life», we will make relevant links. Serial production of new «muscular Mondeo» scheduled for early 2002.
Selection program - special equipment
Ford Mondeo buyers are sometimes relieved of the agony of choice already at the factory: not all possible special equipment can be combined from engines and components. Additional design package (front fascia with integrated fog lamps, side fascia, special rear bumper), on the contrary, are available in all models - of course, only in the company with light metal wheels, but not with alloy wheels 6.5J x 16" with 9 spoke design. In addition, the list of special equipment includes a varied range for music gourmets, sports enthusiasts and «private forwarders». However: for various options, price comparisons sometimes point out the benefits of buying them in auto parts stores, for example, when it comes to a trailer hitch or roof transport systems in various versions. Buyers, of course Mondeo buyers, must determine the basic carrier system at Ford dealers: in this case, at least the required level of safety can be guaranteed for a possible future «settings» - at least when properly assembled.
