Rotational speed at idle, depending on the switched on consumer (e.g. headlights, air conditioning or power steering), is constantly corrected by the engine control unit. At the same time, carburetor engines operate at 700 rpm, turbodiesels can rotate their crankshafts at 900 rpm. To check, you must have a tachometer; in the workshops, a motor tester is connected for this. If the measured values do not correspond to the factory parameters, then the fault cannot be repaired separately: the experts then check the entire engine management system. Then the on-board computer needs «pass» a couple of kilometers to regenerate itself. On such «learning phase» high fluctuations at idle are quite normal.
