Checking the operation of the vacuum brake booster

            0

You will need: flat blade screwdriver, rubber bulb.

If the vacuum booster fails, the force on the brake pedal increases significantly, which negatively affects driving.

If the effort on the pedals during braking has noticeably increased compared to normal, check the brake booster with the vehicle stationary.

1. With the engine off, press the brake pedal five or six times (with an interval of about 5 s) and, keeping the brake pedal depressed, start the engine. The brake pedal should move forward.

If it doesn't, check..

2…. tightness of the vacuum hose in the intake pipe (Throttle assembly removed for clarity) …

3.... and in the housing of the vacuum brake booster.

NOTE: Battery and battery mounting shelf with intake silencer removed for clarity.

4. Remove the battery (see Removing and installing the battery) …

5.... and a shelf for its fastening along with an intake silencer (refer to Removing and Installing the Battery Shelf).

6. To check the operation of the check valve, pry the check valve of the vacuum hose with a screwdriver..

7.... and remove it from the hole in the sealing sleeve of the vacuum brake booster.

8. Insert the spout of the bulb firmly into the check valve and squeeze the bulb. The air must come out of it through the valve.

9. Release the pear. If it remains in a compressed state, then the valve is working. In the absence of a pear, you can purge the valve with your mouth.

10. If the check valve allows air to pass in both directions, replace the vacuum hose assembly with the valve, for which..

11….holding the seal with a screwdriver…

NOTE: Throttle assembly removed for clarity.

12….remove the vacuum hose fitting from the inlet pipe opening…

13….and remove the vacuum hose assembly with check valve.

14. Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.
