Replacing the shock absorber rear suspension

You will need: socket heads "for 10", "for 18", a ring wrench "for 13", pliers.

WARNING: Shock Absorbers (left and right) replace in pairs.


1. Brake the vehicle with the parking brake and set the wheel chocks ("shoes") under the front wheels.

2. Raise the rear of the vehicle, secure it on stands and remove the wheel.



3. Install a jack or telescopic strut under the lower rear suspension arm and raise the arm slightly to unload the shock absorber.



4. Turn out a bolt of fastening of the shock-absorber to an arm of a trailing arm and take away the shock-absorber from a suspension bracket trailing arm.



5. Turn out two bolts of fastening of the top support of a shock-absorber to a body …




6.... and remove the shock absorber assembly with the support.



7. Unscrew the nut securing the upper support to the shock absorber, holding the stem from turning..



8.... and remove the support assembly with the compression buffer and protective cover.



9. Disconnect the protective casing and the compression buffer.




10. Examine the protective cover. Replace damaged cover.

11. Separate the buffer of compression and a shock-absorber fastening bracket.



12. Inspect the compression buffer. Replace a hardened, cracked or deformed buffer with a new one.



13. Check up a condition of the rubber plug of a support. If the bushing is damaged or badly worn, replace the bearing with a new one.

14. Establish the shock-absorber in an order, the return to removal.

15. Similarly replace the second shock-absorber.
