NOTE: Removal and installation of the alternator is shown on the example of a car with a 1.6L Duratec engine. On vehicles with other engines, the operation is similar, although the location of the alternator may differ.
1. Disconnect a wire from the minus plug of the storage battery.
2. Remove the accessory drive belt (refer to Inspection and Replacement of the Accessory Drive Belt).
3. Remove the right headlight (see Headlight Replacement).
4. Remove the protective cap..
5….remove the nut…
6.... and remove the terminal from the plus terminal of the generator.
7. Press a clamp and disconnect a block of a plait of wires from conclusions of the generator.
8. Turn away a nut and turn out a bolt of the top fastening of the generator to a head of the block of cylinders.
9. Turn out the bottom bolt of fastening of the generator.
10. Remove the generator from the stud and remove it through the headlight opening.
11. Establish the generator and all earlier removed details upside-down.
NOTE: The accessory drive and power steering pump belts of Duratec engines, even after removal without damage, cannot be reused, as they are designed only for one-time stretching when put on pulleys (belt tension adjustment is not provided). When installing the alternator, replace the indicated belts with new ones.
