You will need a set of socket heads.

The engine oil sump flange is sealed with FORD WSE-M4G323-A4 sealant-gasket, there is no gasket. If an oil leak occurs, the seal must be replaced.

NOTE: Work on a pit, trestle or hoist.

1. Drain engine oil (see Engine Oil and Oil Filter Change).

2. Remove the oil cooler assembly.

To do this, remove the two oil hose clamps and remove the four bolts securing the oil cooler to the oil sump.

3. Turn out bolts of fastening of a transmission to an oil case.

4. Remove twenty-nine bolts (pic. 5.47) fixing the oil sump to the engine block, gently pry with a screwdriver and remove the oil sump.

5. Clean the mating surfaces of the oil crankcase and cylinder block from the old sealant.

6. Apply a special gasket sealant to the mating surface of the oil sump (FORD WSE-M4G323-A4 or equivalent) roller with a diameter of 3 mm, and the line for applying the sealant-gasket should run from the inside of the mounting holes.

7. Not later than 10 minutes after applying the sealant, install the oil crankcase on the cylinder block and screw, without tightening, the crankcase mounting bolts.

WARNING: To ensure seal tightness, the next two steps must be completed within 5 minutes after crankcase installation.

8. Screw in bolts of fastening of a transmission to an oil case.

9. Tighten the crankcase mounting bolts crosswise to 24 Nm.

10. Fill engine oil (see Engine Oil and Oil Filter Change).

NOTE: You can fill in oil and start the engine no earlier than one hour after installing the oil sump: this time is necessary for the polymerization of the sealant.
