Removal and installation of the fuel rail

            0

You will need: socket heads "for 8", "for 10", a screwdriver with a flat blade.

On a 1.6L Duratec Ti-VCT engine, do the following.

1. Reduce the pressure in the fuel supply system (see Reducing the pressure in the engine supply system).

2. Disconnect a wire from the minus plug of the storage battery.

Pic. 5.65. Installing a fuel rail on a Duratec Ti-VCT engine with a volume of 1.6 liters: 1 - a pipeline for supplying fuel to the fuel frame; 2 - fuel rail; 3 – a hose of system of ventilation of a crankcase of the engine; 4 - coupling of the fuel supply pipeline; 5 – block of a plait of wires of the valve of system of change of phases of gas distribution; 6 - ramp electrical connectors injectors; 7 - screws for fastening the holders of the fuel supply pipeline; 8 - block of the wiring harness of the phase sensor.

3. Disconnect from a cover of a head of the block of cylinders a hose 3 (pic. 5.65) crankcase ventilation systems.

4. Disconnect the fuel supply pipeline from the fuel rail by squeezing the clamps of the coupling 4.

5. Turn out two screws 7 fastenings of holders of the pipeline of supply of fuel and take away the pipeline aside.

6. Disconnect from the valve of system of change of phases of gas distribution of an inlet camshaft block 5 of a plait of wires, squeezing clamps of its fastening.

7. Disconnect block 8 of the wiring harness from the intake camshaft phase sensor by squeezing the latches of its fastening.

Pic. 5.66. Disconnecting the electrical connectors from the rail injectors.

8. Having pressed the clamps of the injector wiring harness blocks with a screwdriver, as shown in fig. 5.66, disconnect the ramp pads 6 from the injectors (see fig. 5.65) electrical connectors and move the ramp aside.

9. Turn away two nuts of fastening of a fuel stage 2 and remove a fuel stage.

NOTE: If the injectors remain in the intake pipe when the rail is removed, remove them from there.

10. Install the fuel rail and all removed parts in the reverse order of removal, replacing the injector O-rings.

NOTE: Lubricate the injector O-rings with engine oil before installing.

11. Start up the engine and check up tightness of connections of pipelines and consolidations of nozzles.

On 2.0L and 2.3L Duratec-HE engines, do the following.

1. Reduce the pressure in the fuel supply system (see Reducing the pressure in the engine supply system).

2. Disconnect a wire from the minus plug of the storage battery.

3. Remove the air filter (refer to Removing and installing the air filter and intake silencer).

4. Squeeze the tabs..

5.... and disconnect the fuel supply line.

6. Turn out two bolts of fastening of a fuel stage.

7. Remove the fuel rail by carefully removing the injectors from the intake manifold holes.

8. Remove the nozzles from the ramp (see Removing, checking and installing injectors).

NOTE: If the injectors remain in the intake pipe when the rail is removed, remove them from there.

9. Install the fuel rail and all removed parts in the reverse order of removal, replacing the injector O-rings.

NOTE: Lubricate the injector O-rings with engine oil before installing.

10. Start the engine and check the tightness of the pipe connections and injector seals.
