Checking the vacuum brake booster and vacuum pipe

            0

Check the operation of the brake booster if too much force must be applied to the brake pedal to achieve sufficient braking performance.

Firmly press the brake pedal at least five times with the engine off, keeping the pedal depressed, start the engine. The brake pedal should drop noticeably.

Otherwise, disconnect the vacuum hose from the booster and start the engine. Close the end of the hose with your finger and check for vacuum with the engine running.

If there is no vacuum: Check the vacuum hose for leaks and damage, replace if necessary. Fasten all clamps well.

Diesel engine: Disconnect the vacuum hose from the vacuum pump and check with a finger while the engine is running for vacuum at the hose connection pipe.

If there is a vacuum: Measure the vacuum, if necessary, replace the vacuum booster (service station operation).

Attention! At the same time, replace the non-return valve in the vacuum hose, as the fuel vapors that have penetrated (through a faulty non-return valve) may damage the vacuum booster diaphragm.

Removing the vacuum hose

Disconnect the ground wire (-) from the battery.

Attention! As a result, data in electronic storage devices, such as an engine fault memory or a radio code, are erased. Please read the section carefully "Removing and installing the battery", before disconnecting it.

Press the brake pedal with great effort 3-4 times in order to remove the vacuum in the vacuum booster.

Disconnect the vacuum hose from the brake booster, if necessary, use a large screwdriver.

Petrol engine: Disconnect vacuum hose from intake manifold. To do this, press the clip -4- with your fingernail and slowly pull the hose evenly.

Diesel engine: Loosen the union nut and disconnect the vacuum hose from the vacuum pump.

Installation

Attention! Always replace the connecting hose together with the non-return valve.

Petrol engine: Insert hose into intake manifold up to ring -6-. Check the tightness of the hose by lightly tightening it.

Diesel engine: Connect the hose to the vacuum pump and secure with the union nut.

Attach a hose with a square to the vacuum booster.

Connect ground terminal (-) to the battery.

Set the time on the clock and set the radio's anti-theft code.
