Charging the battery

Items marked with * are excluded for standard-fit batteries with simplified maintenance. Follow the instructions for such batteries.

Never short-circuit a battery, i.e. plus (+) and minus (-) Batteries must not be connected to each other. In the event of a short circuit, the electrolyte boils and the battery may burst. Do not light the battery with an open flame. Battery electrolyte is corrosive and should not come into contact with eyes, skin or clothing, in which case wash off the electrolyte with plenty of water.

The battery can be charged in the mounted state, but first disconnect "mass" (-) and positive wire (+).

Attention! This disconnection erases the operating parameters from the memory of the fuel injection control unit, from the memory of the radio code for the anti-theft device and the set radio frequencies. Therefore, before disconnecting, be sure to read the instructions in "Removing and installing the battery".

Before charging the battery, check the electrolyte level, top up with distilled water if necessary.

Thaw a frozen battery before charging. A charged battery freezes at a temperature of about -65°C, a half-charged battery freezes at a temperature of -30°C, and a discharged one at a temperature of about -12°C.

* Unscrew the plugs from the battery or wring them out with a narrow screwdriver and screw lightly into the holes. As a result of this, electrolyte splashes will not fall on the varnish coating, and at the same time, the formed gases will escape.

Charge the battery only in a well-ventilated area. When charging the built-in battery, open the engine hood.

With standard charging, the charging current is about 10% capacity (for a battery with a capacity of 50 Ah, this is about 5.0 A). As a guide value, you can take 10 hours of charge.

Connect the positive pole (+) batteries with the positive pole of the charger, and the negative pole (-) batteries with a negative pole of the device.

The temperature of the electrolyte during charging should not exceed +55°C, otherwise stop charging or reduce the charging current.

* Charge until all cells of the battery are actively gassing and for three measurements of the density of the electrolyte following one hour apart, these values and voltage will no longer increase.

* After charging, check the electrolyte level, top up with distilled water if necessary.

* Check electrolyte density. If its value in one cell is significantly lower than the values in other cells (for example, in five cells the density is 1.26 g / ml, and in one - 1.18 g / ml), the battery is defective and must be replaced.

* Within 20 minutes, let the gases out of the battery, then tighten the plugs.

Attention! The engine must not rotate when the battery is disconnected, otherwise the electrical equipment will fail.
