Steering clearance check

Set the steering wheel to the middle position.



Turn the steering wheel in both directions and at the same time watch the front wheels. The steering wheel must have a maximum clearance of approximately 30 mm without turning the wheels.

If the steering wheel clearance is larger, check the tie rods, steering gear and clearances in the front axle bearings.

With great effort, move the tie rods back and forth with your hand. There must be no play in the ball joints, otherwise replace the joints or tie rods.
