Visual inspection of the cooling system for leaks

            0

Examine coolant hoses for porosity by bending and squeezing, replace hardened hoses.

The hoses must not be too short at the fittings.

Check the tightness of the hose clamps. If necessary, install new screw hose clamps instead of the old ones with clamps.

Check the seal for damage.

Check the radiator drain plug for tightness.

If the coolant level drops frequently and the leak cannot be repaired, check the cooling system with the engine warm. To do this, warm up the engine while driving and rotate at idle until the fan turns on. Check if coolant has come out in the area of the coolant pump.

Significant coolant leakage and/or oil in the coolant, as well as white puffs in the exhaust gases when the engine is warm, are signs of a bad cylinder head gasket.

Attention! Determining the location of the leak is quite difficult. Therefore, it is recommended to carry out a pressure test, see point 3.4. You can also check the pressure reducing valve of the closing cap.
