In the center of the filter cartridge, the filtered oil enters the main oil channel. There is a hydraulically actuated switch that indicates to the driver that the oil pressure is too low, i.e. The oil pressure indicator light on the instrument panel comes on. If the filter is clogged with dirt, the bypass valve supplies unfiltered oil directly to the main oil passage.
Channels for lubricating the crankshaft bearings depart from the main oil channel. Through oblique holes in the crankshaft, oil is supplied to the connecting rods. To cool the bottom of the pistons, oil is sprayed from below through the jets.
At the same time, engine oil rises to the cylinder head and lubricates the camshaft bearings and poppet or hydraulic tappets there.
In 2.0L petrol engines and diesel engines, the oil is cooled in a heat exchanger on the oil filter flange, which is connected to the coolant circuit.
1 - Oil channel of the cylinder head
2 - Main oil channel
3 - Spray oil for piston cooling
4 - Main flow oil filter
5 - Oil cooler (2.0L petrol engine, Diesel)
