Power check
Connect a test bulb between cylinder 4 and vehicle ground.
Turn the ignition switch to position II, at the same time the control lamp should light up. If the light does not light up, check the power supply according to the wiring diagram.
Attention! Keep the ignition switch in position II for no more than 15 seconds.
Checking/replacing glow plugs
Disconnect the ground wire (-) from the battery.
Attention! As a result, data in electronic storage devices, such as an engine fault memory or a radio code, are erased. Please read the section carefully "Removing and installing the battery", before disconnecting it.
Unscrew the glow plug supply wire from the bracket -4- and wrap it with insulating tape. 5 - vacuum pump.
Remove the connecting wire and current bar for glow plugs.
Connect a voltmeter to the positive pole (+) battery and connect it to each spark plug in series. The LED lights up, so the current passes: the glow plug is OK.
LED off: glow plug defective, replace it; tightening torque: 30 Nm.
Attention! Strictly adhere to the prescribed tightening torque, otherwise the annular gap between the incandescent rod and the threaded part closes, the candle will fail prematurely.
Connect the connecting wire to the current bar. Tighten the nuts with a torque of 5 Nm.
Connect ground wire (-) to the battery. Set the existing clock and set the radio code.
Checking the glow plug relay
Remove the battery. The preheat relay is located under the battery bracket.
Connect a voltmeter to terminal 30 (+) multi-pin plug of the preheating relay and to ground (-). The LED in the voltmeter should light up, otherwise check the power supply to the battery.
Connect a voltmeter to terminal 86 (terminal 15) and to the mass. Turn on the ignition. The LED in the voltmeter should light up, otherwise check the power supply from the ignition switch.
Connect a voltmeter to terminal 50 and ground. Have an assistant turn on the starter for a short time. The LED in the voltmeter should light up, otherwise check the power supply to the ignition switch.
If the LED in the voltmeter is on, check the supply wires to the glow plugs, replace them if necessary. Otherwise, replace the preheat relay.
Install the battery see 20.14.
Glow plugs with burned out pins
Burnt glow plugs in candles are a consequence of jet malfunctions. Such malfunctions do not cause problems in or on the glow plugs.
If you happen to find such glow plugs -arrow-, it is not enough to simply replace them. Jets need to be checked (jet of atomized fuel, rattling, pressure, tightness) (work being done in the workshop).
