Attention! If the parts of the gas distribution mechanism are to be used again, then they must be installed in the place where they stood before dismantling. To avoid confusion with the details, we recommend preparing a shelf for unfolding them.
Withdrawal
Remove the cylinder head and lay it on two pieces of wood so as not to damage any open valves, see point 1.5.
Remove the camshaft (s), cm. pp. 1.4 and 1.12.
Remove the poppet and position or mark it in such a way that it can be installed exactly in its original place during assembly.
Remove valve springs. To remove the conical valve cotters - and as a result of the valves and valve springs - a valve spring compressor available from a specialist dealer is required.
Compress the valve spring, remove the valve key from the valve stem. Release and remove the spring compression collet. Pull the valve down from the cylinder head.
Remove all other valves in the same way
Remove the oil seals, refer to the section "Replacement of oil seals".
Installation
If you are installing used valves and a used cylinder head, check the valve guides before reassembly. If you are installing all new valves in an old cylinder head, then the valve seats in the cylinder head must be reworked and the valves lapped.
Using a wire brush and scraper, clean the valves of any accumulated combustion products.
Clean the valve stems from carbon deposits in the places where the valve crackers fit.
Lubricate valve stems and guides with a thin coat of SAE 80/90 hypoid oil (machine oil), install all valves exactly in the same place.
Install the lower valve spring seat, if possible. guide ring.
Replace oil seals, see resp. chapter.
Install the top plates and valve springs.
Using a spring compression collet, compress the valve springs and install the valve cotters in such a way that the grooves in the cotters fit into the grooves in the valve stems. Release the valve springs.
Install the camshaft (s), cm. pp. 1.4 and 1.12.
Diesel engine: adjust valve clearances, see paragraph 1.17.
Install the cylinder head see point 1.5 and 1.9.
