Safety precautions when working with an electronic ignition system

            0

In electronic ignition systems, the ignition voltage is up to 37 kV (kilovolt). Under adverse conditions, such as high humidity in the engine compartment, voltage peaks can break through the insulation, resulting in injury (electric shock) in contact with details. To prevent personal injury and/or damage to the electronic ignition system, the following points must be strictly observed when working on the electronic ignition system:

Do not touch or disconnect the ignition wires while the engine is running or the starter is engaged.

The ignition wires can only be disconnected when the ignition is off.

When the ignition is switched on, all plugs of the spark plugs must be connected. If in an emergency it is necessary to check the ignition spark, then this check can only be carried out using a spark plug in one cylinder. In this case, it is necessary to ensure good contact of the spark plug with the ground. The tip of the candle must not be held on the mass with a bare hand, for this you need to use well-insulated pliers.

Connect and disconnect instrument wires (tachometer/ignition tester) only possible by turning off the ignition.

In case of heating to temperatures above +80°C (e.g. varnishing, steam jets) do not start the engine immediately after the warm-up phase.

You can wash the engine only by turning off the ignition.

Disconnect the battery completely when performing welding work.

Persons with pacemakers must not perform any work on the electronic ignition system.
