Disconnect the ground wire (-) from the battery.

Attention! As a result, data in electronic storage devices, such as an engine fault memory or a radio code, are erased. Please read the section carefully "Removing and installing the battery", before disconnecting it.

Unscrew fastening collars. Loosen the three bolts or nuts and remove the airbox above the intake manifold. If equipped, remove the air hose at the bottom of the airbox.

Attention! The fuel system is under pressure. To relieve pressure in the system, you need to use the valve located on the fuel distribution pipe. Ford workshops install a special crane on the valve - a Ford tool 29-033 and lower the fuel. If such a tool is not available, open the fuel lines and collect the escaping fuel with a rag.

Squeeze the quick locks on both fuel lines and remove them. At the same time, collect the escaping fuel with a thick rag.

Disconnect the fuel lines from the bracket on the cylinder head.

Disconnect the air hose from the fuel pressure regulator. If necessary, remove the pressure regulator, to do this, unscrew the two bolts and use a screwdriver to disconnect the pressure regulator from the distribution pipe.

Remove the ventilation hose.

Disconnect the multi-pole plug of the jets.

Unscrew the fixing bolts on the fuel distribution pipe and remove this pipe together with the jets.

Attention! Remove the fuel distributor carefully so as not to damage the jets.

Clamp the distribution pipe carefully in a vise using protective gaskets, and unscrew the fastening bolts of the jets. Pull out the jets.

Installation

Attention! Rubber o-rings (0-rings) Be sure to replace all jets and the pressure regulator each time you dismantle it.

Install the O-rings at the top and bottom of the jets and lightly lubricate them with clean machine oil. Install the jets in the fuel distribution pipe.

Rotate the jets so that the plugs are facing up and secure them with the locking bolts.

Install the fuel distributor with jets in the cylinder head, tighten the mounting bolts using the prescribed tightening torques, see fig.

Connect the ventilation hose.

If removed, install the fuel pressure regulator with a new O-ring in the fuel rail. First, install two o-rings on the jets, one at the top and bottom, lubricating them with a thin layer of engine oil

Connect the fuel lines to the quick locks. Do not mix up fuel lines. Install fuel line holders.

Connect the multi-pole plug of the jets.

Install the suction air chamber, see point 5.6.

Connect ground wire (-) to the battery. Set your existing clock and set the radio's anti-theft code.

Start the engine and turn it off again. Check the system for leaks.
