Adjustment of a drive of a gear change

Adjustment of the shift drive is necessary after installing the gearbox or shift rods, as well as when shifting gears is difficult. The workshops use the FORD installation template, but its use is not mandatory.

Set the shift lever to neutral position, the gear is disengaged.

Raise the vehicle.



Loosen the clamp nut and pull the shift bar off the shift shaft of the transmission.

Degrease the clamping surfaces on the shaft and rod with alcohol.

Slide the shift bar onto the shift shaft.



Pull the corrugation and cuff from the gear lever. Lock the lever with the FORD lock template 16-073. Install the template in the gear lever holder and lock it by turning to the right. The shift lever is fixed only in a strictly vertical position, in the middle of a round opening. If there is no special device, then it is necessary that the assistant holds the lever in a vertical position.

Attach the clamp bolt to the shift shaft. At the same time, do not allow the rod and shift shaft to move or rotate.

Remove the retaining template from the shift housing. Put the cuff and corrugation in place.

Check for ease of shifting. With the shift lever released and the gear disengaged, the lever must be in the vertical position, otherwise repeat the adjustment.

Lower the car.
